F200 A loudspeaker is only as good as its drivers get. The widely used dome tweeters tend to color and muddy the sound because of their winding voice coil’s nonlinearity and heavy weight. Such distortions become especially apparent when good recordings are played. In aluminum ribbon tweeter, however, current flows straight through a very thin sheet of aluminum diaphragm, linearity and response speed are greatly improved. Not only that, the F200’s pure aluminum ribbon has a large flat and rigid surface supported by a micro-honeycomb structure. As a result, the F200’s upper range is very revealing, yet exceptionally neutral and non fatiguing. The F200’s woofer is just as potent, employing a sandwiched carbon fiber diaphragm (the material is made by DuPont for aerospace industry), and a copper shorting ring to prevent the voice coil from moving out of the magnetic field. Along with other features they produce a very resolute and punchy bass. When drivers get to a certain level, everything else begins to really matter. The F200 employs a layered structure and high quality MDF in constructing the enclosure. The F200 also has a special edition (SE), employing laminated bamboo in place of the MDF, which produces even cleaner and tighter sound due to the much greater rigidity of the bamboo material. Aside from design effort, Mundorf M-cap Supreme capacitors are used in the crossover. Teflon insulated OCC cable is used for interconnects. Overall, the F200 is a musical gem of great value.
